AGO Gala: Immersive 3D Projections

The Art Gallery of Ontario hosted a VIP Gala Fundraiser during its Mystical Landscapes exhibition, showcasing masterpieces from artists like Monet and Van Gogh. Derooted aimed to immerse guests in the art, drawing inspiration from Monet's works.

Derooted's idea was to use the AGO's iconic spiral staircase as a canvas. They created a 3D model of the staircase through laser scanning and projected imagery onto it. The imagery, resembling a Monet-style skyline of Toronto, was projected using 12 projectors, creating a mesmerizing environment with moving water waves and swaying tree leaves. The fundraiser was a huge success, raising over $500,000 in a few hours.
