The Spectrum Center, home to the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, is an indoor arena in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, accommodating over 19,000 fans. CSM Productions, a sports activation company based in Charlotte, collaborated with Groove Jones to develop an AR fan experience for Spectrum Mobile, a client of theirs, within the arena's central atrium.

The focal point of the experience is a 20-foot-wide illuminated mural, designed by Groove Jones in collaboration with CSM Productions, featuring the Charlotte skyline and the Spectrum Center. This mural serves as a backdrop for an AR experience that brings the city to life with music, an animated Charlotte Hornets logo, and a guest appearance by the team's mascot, Hugo the Hornet.

AR experience

Guests can interact with the AR experience by posing for a photo or video with Hugo, who is digitally inserted into the shot. The experience is powered by Spark AR, the AR platform for Instagram and Facebook. Upon launching the experience, guests are shown a quick promotional ad and offer for Spectrum Mobile.

The activation will be available throughout the season and will be managed by CSM Production's brand ambassadors. The goal of the AR experience is to engage fans and promote Spectrum Mobile's services in a fun and interactive way.
