3M collaborated with Groove Jones to create an augmented reality (AR) experience showcasing the hanging capabilities of Command™ Brand products. The objective was to use AR to inspire consumers and highlight the strength and utility of Command™ Damage-Free Hanging Solutions, specifically the Command™ 10 lb X-Large Utility Hook. The aim was to enable users to virtually hang various items on different surfaces, demonstrating the hook's capabilities, and this was to be showcased at CES.

The "Command™ Brand – Hang On AR Experience" was accessed through a customized web page by scanning a QR code within the 3M CES booth. The experience guided users through three main stages. First, users viewed a detailed 3D representation of the Command™ 10 lb. X-Large Hook, learning how to prep the hanging surface, apply adhesive strips, and attach the hook to the wall. Next, users selected from a variety of 3D objects to virtually hang, such as a gym bag, backpack, guitar, or coat, demonstrating the hook's versatility.

In the AR segment, users activated their device's camera and selected an object to hang. By tapping "View on your wall," the chosen object appeared to be installed on the wall via the Command™ Hook, enhancing the user's understanding of the product's application. The AR experience was optimized for current-generation iOS and Android devices, ensuring compatibility across popular mobile web browsers.

This AR experience is part of a broader initiative by 3M to digitize their products and integrate interactive experiences on their websites and with third-party retailers. By leveraging AR, retailers can increase engagement, improve product understanding, and ultimately drive conversion and sales.
