During the 2022 holiday season, X-FCTR collaborated with Groove Jones to launch an impressive in-store augmented reality (AR) campaign for Target. Through scanning QR codes on floor decals or aisle displays, shoppers could unlock a winter wonderland featuring Target's mascot, Bullseye, and interact with this season's most popular toys virtually.

Augmented Reality Retail

Upon activation, Bullseye guided shoppers through a large door adorned with giant candy canes, creating a magical entrance. The X-FCTR team aimed to revive the excitement of holiday shopping by offering a unique and immersive experience.

Inside the store, shoppers could activate a portal that transported them into a virtual Target holiday wonderland, allowing them to explore exclusive holiday toys. For shoppers with limited physical space, a teleportation option was available, enabling them to navigate the virtual environment easily.

In-Store Holiday Portal

Under a larger-than-life Christmas tree, shoppers found four gift boxes to open, each launching an AR experience with a different toy. They could also enjoy whimsical holiday scenes, such as animated snowmen and playful LEGO animals.

Barbie AR

One interactive AR game featured the Animal Planet Deep Sea Shark Rescue Submarine Playset, where players rescued holiday presents from sharks. Another game, the Bluey Ultimate Lights & Sounds Playhouse Scavenger Hunt, let players join Bluey and friends in a virtual dance party. Additionally, a Barbie-themed experience allowed players to help Barbie prepare her vacation home for the holidays.

Overall, X-FCTR and Groove Jones successfully created an engaging and interactive AR campaign that brought back the wonder and joy of holiday shopping in stores.
